Like Hatha, Vinyasa has also become a widely used term that is used to describe many different types of classes. Vinyasa essentially means linking movement to breath. Vinyasa Flow classes are generally a more vigorous style based on the performance of a series of postures creatively linked together and fluidly matching movement to the breath. A Vinyasa Flow class will typically start with a number of sun salutations to warm up the body leading to more intense stretching and stronger holds and finishing with a cooling down sequence and relaxation at the end of class. The particular style and focus of each class will be dictated by the teacher.
